NOISE OF SILENCE

Tosin Abegunde

Like a ship aground, disaster looms, For the careless saint in scented rooms. Friends of the nation, sour and sly, Crave fortified trains, not roads to ply. All for progress, they claim to strive, Yet litigation binds their drive. We prayed for light to grace our home, But gloom arrived, a piercing dome. The lost pin found, now stabs the eye, Nothing more, nothing less—our cry.

The law’s master sways the masses’ mind, Guarding conscience, funds misaligned. Oaths betrayed by duty’s weight, Public trust in private hate. The cake was eaten, yet still they hoard, Nothing more, nothing less—discord.

The strength manager mints the nation’s gold, Strategizing wealth, yet reckless, bold. Suspension, expulsion, oil theft’s trace, The Chief’s decrees bury truth’s face. Posterity alone will judge the cost, Nothing more, nothing less—truth lost.
